Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet SKY! This adorable young fella is looking to be your best friend!
Sky is full of personality and energy! He loves to go on stimulating walks (neighborhood walks are okay but Sky much prefers trail walks). He is crate and potty trained, walks beautifully on leash, knows the sit command and is mastering wait and come.
Sky's past life was not kind which brought some protective habits - mostly around food (specifically human food) and his person. He wants what he wants and therefore, his guardian(s) must have experience with the breed, strong, yet gentle leadership skills. These traits are from his past and with consistency, patience and understanding, can be easily overcome with knowledge and positive force free training methods. He is very treat motivated which makes training even easier. He wants to please you and make the right decision - TEAMWORK = a successful Sky!!
Our darling boy can live with other small, calm personality dogs (he is not fond of bigger dogs) and can be happy as a one and only. He is a lover and snuggler, not much of a barker, does have a prey drive towards critters, and, tends to bond quicker with males.
His best home will meet the following requirements:
- Single family dwelling only (no apartment, townhome or condo living)
- Have a secured completely fenced yard
- Breed specific knowledge
- Intermediate / Advanced canine experience
- Active
- Quiet lifestyle (Older children 15+ only)
- Work from home beyond COVID, early retired, work part-time **A full week work schedule outside of the home will only be acceptable with another dog companion at home**
Applicants who meet the above can apply from the website - www.hearts4doxiesrescue.org PLEASE NOTE: we will only reply to those who meet the requirements.
