My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Mars is a Domestic Short Hair (DSH), female, black and white, DOB: 4/3/20.

Sweet and adorable as well as captivating with that wide-eyed innocence so completely obvious, Mars came to our shelter after spending several weeks in a medical foster home with her 4 siblings, all of them learning to eat on their own and being treated for URIs and intestinal illnesses. This delightfully charming young cat is a friendly, social, and pretty confident kitten who also happens to be really good-natured and easy-to-please. An affectionate and endearing young cuddle-bug, she’ll be looking for opportunities to give and receive loving-attention, and she enjoys some cuddling in the arms of those she knows and trusts. And you guessed it, she readily welcomes snuggles with her purr motor getting pretty revved-up when getting pets. She’ll show her appreciation by giving the sweetest, kitty nose touches (kisses) along with gentle kneading – but only after some interactive playtime and independent exploring.

More looking to operate in her comfort zone than having reservations and not shy in-the-least, Mars is a confident, playful, pretty active, and undemanding young feline who is just darn happy to be in the company of people and other cats and kittens she knows. Also a gentle feline with a sensitive soul, she, like her siblings, is a total people-cat. With animated expression and completely engaging personality; this swashbuckling, adventurer will appreciate daily opportunities for ruff-n-tumble playtime as well as independent exploration avid hunting of household shadows, toy mice, and dust bunnies will, no doubt, be a lifelong favorite activity.

Mars, along with littermates, Charleston, Hershey, Cadbury, and Almond Joy: came to Monroe SPCA as orphans needing critical care - all 5 kittens, barely more than infants, found outdoors. None of them able to eat on their own, they required syringe and bottle feedings early on. The five kitten sisters spent their first weeks with Monroe SPCA in medical foster being treated for URIs, Giardia, Coccidia, and Roundworm.

Now a happy, healthy feline, Mars is looking for her forever home with a family who can give her the time and attention a young cat needs.

Mars is best suited as an indoor pet and companion for a home with a moderately-active lifestyle. She likes and gets along well with other compatible cats, and she’ll be comfortable in the presence of well-mannered, cat-friendly dogs and respectful children of any age given proper introductions and a period of acclimation to any new environment. Although extremely social and friendly with all, Mars will need a little bit of adjustment time to warm-up and adjust to her new surroundings. As with all Monroe SPCA adoptable animals, a home visit and a meet-n-greet with any housemate pets will be required prior to adoption.

Mars currently resides at Monroe SPCA’s Adoption Center and Retail Store. You can meet her by appointment with pre-approved adoption application. To start the adoption process, complete and submit Monroe SPCA’s adoption application linked above.

All Monroe SPCA cats available for adoption have an adoption fee of $85.00. This fee includes the cat being spayed or neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, dewormed, tested for FeLV and FIV, and microchipped with lifelong registration prior to adoption.

Completed applications can be emailed to info@monroespca.org or dropped off at Monroe SPCA’s Adoption Center and Retail Store located at 293 W. Monroe Street, Dundee, MI.
