Awesome Pete - male, vet checked, neutered, vaccinated to date inclu. Rabies, heartworm tested (-), dewormed, tx flea preventative, ~6yr, ~6-7lbs, ~6” @ the shoulder, Chihuahua.
Pete is a rescue from a high kill shelter where he was not handling shelter life and was to be euthanized.
Yes, if you are wondering, he is that Awesome… Awesome Pete has come along way since coming in to foster care over a month ago. Pete is great with all dogs of all sizes, he even likes to play with small-mid size dogs, he is good with cats and respectful older children over 10yrs of age. We call him Awesome because he is so cute, so much fun and so friendly. This guy has so much character and personality for 7 pounds, once you get to know him you’ll probably agree that he’s pretty Awesome. Pete is house trained and crate trained but fine given free roam of the home when left alone. Pete is now used to being left alone for typical 9-5 work hours but wouldn’t object if he could join you at work or if you visited him at lunch for some snuggle time or a quick walk. He can be crated or left out when left alone and at night. Pete can take a while to warm up to new situations and strangers, he prefers to approach them in his own time and may bark at strangers that approach him, once he has met someone a few times he is very friendly and his tail doesn’t stop wagging. He took about two full weeks to completely settle in to his foster home and is now very content and confidant. He loves his foster family and really enjoys being picked up, hugged, cuddled and petted as much as possible. He spends most of his day following his foster mom around or sleeping on the couch cuddled up next to another dog or cozy under a blanket. At night Pete sleeps in his crate where he usually gets cozy under a big blanket. He spends his evenings playing with the other dogs or snuggling up with his foster family by the fireplace. He likes belly rubs and having his neck or legs massaged. Pete knows a few basic commands like sit, no, off, out… and he walks nicely on a leash. He is good in the car and likes to be out and about when possible like trips to the pet store! Why is Pete so Awesome? …He likes to wear his sweater, easy to walk, loves his people and bonds well once he knows you love him and he is comfy, he listens well and has lots of personality, he would be great for agility (I know, even though he’s a Chihuahua!), very cute when he makes himself a little bed under a blanket or your sweater, loves home made doggy treats or the ones from the pet store – he’s easy to please, he would be great as a second dog or on his own, loves to chase and play with stuffy toys even if they are twice his size. Pete is going to make an awesome companion for a more mature house hold, we prefer Awesome Pete finds a home with adults. He is best suited to an experienced owner who has time and patience to let him settle in. Pete is best suited to a house with a securely fenced yard.
