My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

PLEASE READ ALL OF THE INFORMATION BELOW!

Meet Gemma, a small 6 year old Japanese terrier and such sweet girl! Gemma was rescued from a puppy mill in Pennsylvania. Gemma weighs about 12 pounds.

She’s a very loving girl who is a bit timid in new situations, particularly around loud sounds and some men at first. She’s a boisterous, playful girl and is great with the other dogs in her foster home. She will do best in a home where there is another active, small/medium dog. She is intrigued by cats, but doesn’t bother them. She LOVES to play with toys! She will require a secure fenced in yard and a home with no young children.

Gemma is currently fostering in Broome County, NY.

We currently adopt in the states of NY*, NJ, Eastern PA, DE, and some areas in MD. We can not accept applications from other states at this time.
*excludes NYC, Long Island, and immediate surrounding areas

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please fill out our adoption application which you can find on our website at www.dutchcountryanimalrescue.org/adopt.html

Our adoption fees are on our application.

All of our rescues are spayed/neutered, up to date on rabies and DHPP, heartworm tested, treated for worms and fleas and most are microchipped.

We are not a shelter, we are 100% volunteer public charity. All of our dogs are in foster homes until they are adopted. Since we are not a shelter, we do not receive government funding. We are a public charity that relies solely on funds through our adoption fee, fundraisers, and private donations. Since we are 100% volunteer based, all funds collected go directly towards the rescue and vet costs of our dogs.

We take each rescue personally and spend a lot of effort trying to match the right dog to the right family. Thank you for considering one of our rescued dogs.
