Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hi, Hendrix here! I'm a male, yellow Lab mix, 75 pounds, about 5 years old, and currently attending Dog Obedience College. No remote learning for me! My teacher, Elyse, is a lot of fun, and I really enjoy showing her how well I know how to sit, down, heel, stay, watch, and front. She took me to The Home Depot the other day, and gave me an A+!
I'm eager to learn more which helps me build my confidence in new surroundings. See, my life started out pretty rough. I didn't have a home, and tried to survive on my own. Some kind people found me at a mobile home park last summer, and I was in bad shape. They called DLRR who nursed me back to health. Now I'm ready for a family to love. I enjoy walks, and when we get home, I'll nap at your feet. I'm housebroken, use a doggie door, and did I say I love to go for walks? If you adopt me, your reward will be my huge heart to love you back forever!
Now for a few words from my DLRR family:
When Hendrix first came to DLRR, he was very scared, in poor health, underweight, and all four of his paws were severely burned from walking on hot asphalt. We can't even imagine the pain he must have been experiencing. Despite these challenges, he was friendly and sweet! DLRR got him the medical attention he needed, and every day that this miracle boy was in foster, he got sweeter and more relaxed. He gained 15 lbs. and now weighs a healthy 75 lbs.
Hendrix was diagnosed with mild hip dysplasia, however, our vet has only recommended a joint supplement, an anti-inflammatory and Gabapentin because he is not exhibiting any difficulties. In fact, if you’re an avid walker, Hendrix is the dog for you!
Since Hendrix was found as a stray, and had not received any training, DLRR hired a professional dog trainer to help him become the best dog he can be. He has been in formal obedience training every day since May 4, and will be available for adoption to a family that is excited to continue his training with two private and six group lessons, at no cost to you! DLRR will also pay for his medications and supplements for one year.
If you are interested in this dog, please fill out an application at www.dlrraz.org. Someone will call to schedule a home visit so you can become an approved adopter. Also, visit our Facebook page at www.facebook/desertlab and follow us on Instagram (DLRR of Arizona) and Twitter (@DLRR). Thanks!
