My basic info
Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Tyrone Tucker
is a handsome blue gray silver long hair male approx. 1.5yr. His adoption fee is $75.
He has been vetted and neutered.
He is good with other nice cats. No dogs or kids.
His family rescued him and his sister who were both born outside to a feral mom. They love them dearly. It’s been a year now and the first cat members of the family still do not accept him. They terrorize him and he has regressed so they are making the unselfish decision to let him go to a home he won’t be bullied.
THEY MADE THE EFFORT AND GOT HELP. THEY DIDN’T DUMP THEIR RESPONSIBILITY ONTO THE KILL SHELTERS.
Most kitties don’t just go into a new home and own it, they need an adjustment period. Patience, love and space will be needed. Some cats will hide temporarily and some cats use the defense mechanism of hissing, it is done out of fear, their way of telling us they are scared.
You cannot force him, that will scare him. Actually, you cannot force any cat, period.
He may growl when he is forced or afraid but has never attempted to bite or scratch, not even the bully kitties. He is telling you slow down!
After his adjustment period Tucker, the name he actually responds to, will be a fun sweet boy that will thrive in a calm environment that is quieter versus loud and fast. He will be cautious at first but once he is comfortable he will follow his people around the house, probably wanting to play. With company he will be afraid. He loves to be petted and has recently started enjoying a comfy lap. He can be picked up and held but it is not his favorite thing. Overall, he is a great kitty in the right home to humans that are lovable and will read his signs. He will be a lover, a player and a couch potato.
He loves to play! and with other kitties that are nice to him and he will even ‘share’ his toys.
He loves interactive toys like feather on a stick, shoe lace drag and laser lite as well as the Fling ama String and the $2 ‘cat dancer’ toys.
He loves kitty treats, a rectangle corrugated scratcher that lays flat on the floor and a tall cat tree sitting in front of the window with sun rays beaming in.
He will expect to share your bed.
He has been free fed Science Diet chicken quality hard food (quality meaning the first ingredient begins with meat) and gets up to a ½ can of Wellness skipjack tuna morning and night. His biggest food love is turkey breast! He would follow you to the ends of the earth for some of your turkey sandwich.
Below information is for preventative purposes…
Too many male AND female cats are getting the
UTI - urinary tract infection and crystals in their urine.
It’s a blockage, it’s painful and if ignored will lead to death.
Vets say the hard food is at fault because it does not deliver enough liquids. It’s simple to monitor. Just make sure there is at least one good size pee ball in the litter box a day.
Kitty fountains are effective to help manage a cat’s fluids. A diet of good quality canned food pate is better than dry food however there are some dry foods that are pH balanced and help maintain Urinary Tract - UT health like Blue Buffalo, Purina Pro Plan, Purina One UT health, Iams UT health.
Cats/Kittens are an 18 year commitment!
They need a cat tree, love and an inside home
