My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Please note we are a TX based rescue that transports our pups to their new homes once adopted. All of our dogs reside in TX, unless otherwise notated in the dogs bio.

Hello world! My name is Hopalong Cassidy, Cassidy for short. I was intaken from a hoarding case with over 70 dogs. We were all being kept inside a very small house. I had never seen grass before I was rescued from the house. Foster mum has no idea how I survived amongst so many dogs. You see, I am a very special girl, in more ways than one! I was born with only 6 vertebrae in my back, (a typical dog has 7) and the vets all marvel that I can walk. Granted, I have a very unique gate, but have taught myself to hop like a rabbit in my back legs. Even with my disability, I can run really fast! I do not require a wheelchair, and am currently walking about 1/2 mile a day on my own. I love exploring and sniffing all the smells.

Part of my therapy is weekly accupuncture right now, and it has helped a lot! I am getting stronger everyday.

I get along really well with all the dogs big and small at foster mums house. I even ignore some really smelly animals she has called horses. I ignore her cats too!

I adore my foster mum. I want to follow her everywhere and sit in her lap everytime she sits down. My front legs are very strong, and I have learned how to pull myself up into her lap all by myself! I love to give her kisses, and am always giving her googly eyes. I love her very, very much.

I can be skittish of new people besides foster mum. Especially men. I am definitely more of a ladies gal. I would do best in an understanding and patient home that didnt have a lot of activity. Loud noises can be scary!

Like most dogs with spinal issues, I do have ocassional incontinence. I wear my diaper very well though, and it makes me look even cuter than I already am! Like most animals that have come out of hoarding situations, everything is new to me. I require patience, but I promise I am worth it, and will repay your love tenfold.

I am a special girl looking for a special home. Foster mum says someone better adopt me quick because she has fallen in love with me too! I wish I could stay here furever, but I know the pawfect home is out there for me.
