Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.

Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Greta- 1-2 yr old, female, 42 lbs., Bassett mix- Greta came to IL with her puppies. She has since weaned them and has been spayed and is looking for a place to hang out while she goes through heartworm treatment. Treatment will be about 60 days. Once she has been through treatment she will be adoptable, but she is available for our Foster to Adopt program. While Greta does well with most dogs- she needs a slow introduction- she likes her space. She has a high prey drive so she would not do well with cats or small furry animals (she really loves bunnies). Greta would also do best with older children who can continue to promote and help train her. Greta is housebroken and crate trained!
Our standard adoption fee is $375 cash or check and $385 credit card ($10 processing fee). . It includes spay/neuter when age appropriate at our participating vets, age appropriate core vaccinations, fecal testing, deworming, flea and tick preventative,1st vet visit at one of our participating vets, and micro-chipping.
We must have an application, conduct a phone interview, and meet your entire family to approve an adoption. Please email adopt@safehavendogsIL.org for an application or additional details.
Please note that the breeds and sizes posted in this biography are educated best guesses and are not guaranteed.
Please consider becoming a foster home while you search for your new best friend. We need foster homes - pounds are overflowing with puppies and adult dogs that are at-risk and need help. We can only rescue as many as we have foster home commitments. Fostering is a rewarding experience for your family.
