Angel is a female brown, tan and white chihuahua. She is 5 years old and she weighs 12 pounds. Angel is spayed and vaccinated including rabies. She tested heartworm negative and is receiving monthly heartworm prevention. She is ready for adoption.
Angel needs a home willing to let her be her. Angel learns a doggie door and her routine but she is not a dog that likes to be handled much. Angel has done well in a one-person foster home with two other dogs who mostly leave her alone. She does not warm up or want to snuggle or play with another dog. Strangely Angel seems more comfortable with a person who smokes...whether it’s the smell or the voice we aren’t sure. With a little effort to gain her trust, foster mom can pick Angel up to sit with her in her chair, and at times Angel will come ask for petting. She will not compete with other dogs for attention. Angel would do best with a doggie door. Once she learns the routine and picks her sleeping spot, Angel is no trouble. She just doesn’t seem to be that dog a little socializing can “fix” so we are seeking an easy going home that will let her find her own happiness rhythm.

A completed adoption application and, upon approval, an adoption contract is required. Jeff Tarpley Rescue welcomes applications from homeowners, renters, and condo or apartment dwellers. At a minimum, a phone interview will be conducted and a vet reference checked before the applicant may meet their preferred pet.
We adopt primarily in the 4 states of the ArkLaTexOma. Applicants willing to travel to Texarkana will also be considered with additional requirements to qualify as approved.
