Calling all German Shepherd lovers! Amery is a 75 lb., five year old, sable, female German Shepherd who is spayed and housebroken. In her former home she lived with adults, children, and other pets. She was surrendered to the shelter when her family simply couldn’t care for her anymore. Because she was passed around several times to different homes before coming to the shelter, Amery takes some time to bond with new people, but once she knows you, her personality shines; Amery not only loves to fetch big rope toys or balls, but she also brings them back to you; she has a sense of humor and will tease you with mock barks as she happily wags her tail and begs you with laughing eyes for more treats. Amery is protective of the people she loves; when she’s expressing her softer side she will circle you quietly on her big padded feet, then sweetly duck into your arms and gently lick your nose. The individuals interested in making Amery a part of their family will need to visit her 2 or 3 times to make sure she feels secure and comfortable enough to go home with them. Amery will do best in a home with people who know and understand the German Shepherd breed.
