9/28/2020 - My name is Ellie
Lab/pointer, currently on a diet (52lbs)
I have a story to tell and it is a sad one but I need you to know something about my past because you will be my future. I once had my own family until a historic flood came and I was left behind, pregnant. I was in distress when someone finally saw me and reached out to the local rescue. I had 3 babies by that time. We were severely malnourished and had skin issues. I was also heart worm positive. I started recovering and my foster mom noticed that I had an indention in my skull, so I went to the vet where they x-rayed my skull and found bullet fragments! The vet said that there was nothing obvious of to concern them. I have completed heartworm treatment and now I am as healthy as ever. I still breathe like a horse sometimes; maybe it's something in my breed mix? The vet has checked my larynx and it looks fine (it may be because of the scarring from heart worm) . It does not stop me from playing. My first foster mom spoiled me so much that I became a couch potato and I am a little obese. I had to go to another foster home because my foster mom was having knee surgery. I should be losing weight soon. I love to cuddle and lay right beside you. I am learning new things and I now know that I am safe. My babies have been adopted; now I need a forever family and I hope it will be you.
Ellie would be best in a home without other dogs.
