My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Layla was an owner surrender. Her former owner said she kept jumping their fence and running away. (we have not seen anything resembling that behavior since she got to her foster home)

Layla's paperwork is confusing. She is listed as 6 years on some of the paperwork, and 8 on others. Her energy level/teeth/eyes indicate closer to 6 years old.

Layla's DNA test showed she is GSD/Border Collie with Eskimo/Husky.

Layla was treated for intestinal worms and heartworms since she came in to our rescue. She is done with the treatments, and appears healthy and happy!

Layla plays with the dogs here, and she has done fine with the ones who don't want to play. Her former owner indicated she has some resource issues, with her food, and she is fed separately from the other dogs. Layla talks a lot===and much of that sounds like growling/grumbling.

This little one is not a snuggler (so far!). Her new owners will have to simply give her the space and time to settle and unwind---a week or two. She is obviously confused about her world being turned upside down, and is taking her time to settle and warm up to people.
She will bring a toy over to play, and bark to go out. She loves playing with balls, although simply runs around with them and never returns them.

Layla sits and is learning to walk on a leash. When everyone is called in from the yard, she is the first one in to get her treat! Layla is very responsive to positive training and treats and rewards.

She is housebroken. She barks at the door when she wants to go out.

Layla asks for very little. She is content to sleep in a corner or a spot with sunlight. She waits patiently for her breakfast and dinner. She did well when given a bath, and seems to enjoy being brushed.

Layla has not been tested with cats or children.

Layla is in Sparta NJ. We ask that people complete an application prior to meeting her. A home check/visit is also necessary. Her adoption fee is $300. Thank you for looking at rescued dogs!
