The saying goes "Dog is man's best friend" but for Belle, dogs are also
HER best friends so we are specifically looking for a home with another dog (or 2!) because, for Belle, life isn't worth living unless you have a dog!! Belle can enter a pack of dogs and make friends instantly! She's the one who's always ready to take someone else's lead, grab the other end of a toy, or let someone else catch the ball first! As long as other dogs are involved, Belle will always make accommodations to keep the game going harmoniously. And she loves a good game of "Chase" and doesn't care if she's the chasee or the chaser, as long as it involves high speeds and lots of smiles.
We'll never know if it was her soley her unfortunate past that has left Belle timid with people when she first meets them, or if she's just more of an introvert who prefers to take her human friendships slowly. Either way, patience and compassion will be rewarded to the family who lets her in because Belle loves everybody once she gets to know you. She's still skittish about some things in life too, and we hope she'll outgrow them as time goes on. For example, she's still skittish about walking through doorways because she was kept outside for her first several months of life. And she's working on leash-training; she doesn't like to be pulled and will sit down quickly if you try to force her. Belle is laid back when she is not outside running with the pack at her foster home, and thinks she is a lap dog if you make the mistake and sit down where she can get to you!
Gentle Belle was born on April 24, 2019 making her 1 1/2 years old. She weighs just about 45 pounds and she is a very healthy girl. She has lived very nicely in a home with men, women, kids, dogs, cats and even a potbelly pig so we know she gets along with absolutely everyone . . . as long as she has the patience and nurturing she needs. If you have a soft place in your heart for a girl who will fill it up, please visit www.pinkshelter.org for more information about the adoption process or
