My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Meet Jack!  He was born around August 2019.  He is sleek and trim weighing 68 pounds and will probably fill out by adding 5-7 more pounds.

Before coming into rescue, Jack was a stray wandering the streets with his sister Diane. He was timid and not so sure about people. His skin was red and hot from infection, and he was malnourished.  Four weeks later with lots of tender loving care, he is learning to trust people and is feeling healthy.

Although Jack is now looking and feeling great, he is still a little timid around people.  He prefers to come to you for affection rather than be approached.  He will come to you when called, especially if you are sitting down. A person standing over him seems to make him a bit nervous.  With time and patience, Jack will gain more confidence. He’s already come so far in four weeks.

In his foster home, Jack loves running and playing with the other dogs and gets along with male and female dogs.

Jack treats cats nicely with a simple sniff or ignores them completely.

Jack loves chew toys such as Kongs or Nylabones.

His favorite spot in the house is on the cool tile floor nearby people but not right in the middle of the action.

Jack’s foster home has two active boys that he loves to play with and seems to trust more than the grown-ups.  Jack would work well in a family with children of any age, because he does not jump or get too rambunctious.

He loves to sleep on the floor beside your bed at night and hasn’t (so far) shown interest in jumping on the bed.

Jack is fully housebroken.  He does not like being crated and there is no reason to crate him. He is not destructive and prefers to snooze away on the couch or tile floor if his foster family is away.   He will often “rearrange” your throw pillows but doesn’t chew or destroy them.

Jack rides nicely in a car and is working to gain more confidence when walking on a leash.  If he has a doggie buddy to walk with him, he does better on walks.

Jack seems to have a naturally calm personality that is starting to shine through, but he needs a playful doggy companion in his forever home. This playmate will continue teaching him how to be confident in new situations.  He will continue picking up social cues from this playmate. (If you don’t already have a suitable fur buddy for him, adopt one from us!)

Jack is a fun dog who listens well and will probably be trainable for simple commands as he shows interest in mimicking the other dogs in his foster home.

Jack’s furry curls make him an unusual and handsome looking Pyr mix.   And his eyes are just mesmerizing in a beautiful golden-green color. He also has the best Pyr smile and can’t wait for a real family photo opportunity.

If you’d like to get together for an introduction, please see the info below.  There’s a perfect family for Jack out there and he can’t wait to meet you!

SPIN Pyrs are all in foster homes in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Potential adopters are asked to make travel arrangements if they live elsewhere. All SPIN dogs are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations and on heartworm prevention. Please go to our website www.SpinRescue.org and fill out an application for this great Great Pyrenees!
