My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Starla is a tiny wonder with brilliant green eyes, after the rough life she had before coming to our shelter they still shine as bright as anything. Although Starla is shy when she first meets new people, with a delicate touch and gentle words of encouragement, it’s not long before her purr gets going and you are well on your way to becoming best friends!

Our sweet and mellow Starla first became a member of Furry Friends when she was surrendered by her owner’s family - They were no longer able to care for Starla after going through some life changes, but unfortunately Starla had already been feeling the effects of her family’s neglect for a long time.

Starla came to us frail and afraid, she shook with nervousness when we would try and reach our hands closer to pet her, and eventually Starla would become so overwhelmed by our attempts to connect that she would simply curl up into her bed and hiss to let us know that she was worn out from everything going on. It was incredibly difficult to see this small, gentle soul so afraid of the people around her that she would just shut it all out.

It’s taken time, and Starla is certainly still hesitant of new folks until she’s sure that you mean well, but she is a happy little girl today! Starla loves to curl into her bed in comfort instead of fear, and she will wrap her tail around her legs and sleep like a kitty pretzel. She manages quite the array of yoga poses in her sleep!

Starla enjoys being softly pet, especially if you massage her head and chin, but she would prefer that you don’t touch her backside. This may change when she grows to trust her forever family for the source of love and joy that they are, but right now Starla likes to keep most of her lovin’ to her head, shoulders and back.

Starla is a good eater when it comes to crunchies, and so a nicely topped up bowl will be a must in her forever home. She doesn’t go hog wild for wet food like some kitties do, but she does like to indulge in a small portion once in a while.

All Starla needs to thrive is a family with the patience to help nurture her confidence and allow Starla to blossom into the brave little thing we know she can be. Once Starla sets those sea-green eyes on yours, you’ll be hooked and in love for sure!
