Oakley, his siblings and his mother were living under a house in a very rural part of Texas. The homeowner called us and asked if we would help them, as the family was riddled with fleas, intestinal parasites and she could not afford to keep feeding them. One of the puppies had already died. Our team rushed over to get them out and just in the nick of time. They would have not survived another day. The puppies and their mom spent several days in intensive care at the vet's office. They had severe anemia and terrible skin infections from all the fleas. They all have been in foster homes and are now healthy, happy and gorgeous. Oakley had been the sickest of the pups and we were worried he would not make it through the first night, but he is a fighter and he is doing great in his foster home. We aren't sure who his dad is, but his mom looks like a Catahoula Leopard Dog mix. She weighs about 40 pounds so we expect these puppies to be medium sized, as well. Dexter's foster mom says that he is fearless and enjoys playing with the foster's resident 75 pound lab mix. He is very active and loves to go on walks around the neighborhood. He is very smart and has learned to sit for treats and is doing great with crate training and house training.
Oakley's adoption fee is $650; however we will require an additional $100 deposit that will be refunded to his adopter upon proof of neuter when he is old enough to be neutered (neutering is required per our adoption contract). The adoption fee includes GROUND transport from Houston, TX to the Hartford, CT area. Transport is arranged upon finalization of adoption paperwork.
Oakley is currently in his foster home in Dallas, TX and will remain there until adopted.
