Upon entering BARC rescue, Sophia was exhibiting fearful behavior towards strangers. Sophia recently completed the Canine Good Citizen program at Eagle K9 Academy to help her learn basic obedience and gain confidence in new situations and meeting new people. Sophia needed to understand that all people are not going to hurt her. She is still learning the ropes to her new training skills, therefore she will require an experienced and very patient family that understands that she needs time to adjust to new people. (Experience is a MUST to ensure her adopter follows through building and reinforcing all of the skills Sophia developed in training). She still exhibits an initial fear of strangers, but once she earns your trust, you are her best friend for life!! Once you have gained her trust, she will trust and love you with her whole heart! She wants to be as close to her humans as possible. Sophia would do best in a quiet but active home, with a family that has a lot of patience and love to give. She still has puppy energy and loves running circles around you when she wants attention. She loves affection, and she is the best snuggler ever! Its really the only thing she craves. She also loves stuffed animals and running around the yard, but will take being next to her favorite human over anything else. Sophia absolutely loves car rides, long hikes and fetch (tennis balls and stuffed animals are her favs!) She would do best with other submissive dogs with slow intros after decompression. Pack walks seem to work best for her with introductions to both new people and dogs. The love Sophia gives back is worth all the effort she requires.

🐾 Kid friendly, but we require dog experienced children over the age of 7 for Sophia. Older, calm and respectful children only.

🐾 Housetrained for the most part and she is crate-trained with no accidents in her crate. She will have an occasional accident if left alone out of her crate, but is pee pad trained for those who prefer not to crate her. She is not destructive if left out with toys.
🐾 Walks well on leash with her gentle leader.
🐾 Microchipped, spayed, and UTD on vaccinations.
