**PLEASE READ: IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN MAKING KAI A PART OF YOUR FOREVER FAMILY..PLEASE FILL OUT AN ADOPTION APPLICATION ON OUR WEBSITE WWW.ROVERSRETREAT.ORG. AN APPLICATION IS REQUIRED FOR ALL POTENTIAL FAMILIES**

Hi friends! My name is Kai and I am a 4 month old lab mix puppy. I have had a pretty rough first 4 months of my life so brace yourselves while I tell you my story! About a month ago I was found by a nice rescuer in Mexico because someone left me in a brown moving box on the side of the street with my 5 siblings. We are not sure how we got there..we think someone just discarded us because they were no longer able to care for us! The rescuer in Mexico contacted Rovers Retreat Rescue who took all 6 of us under their care and brought us all the way to Los Angeles to safety! Our story does not end there. Immediately upon arriving, my sisters and brothers and I begin feeling very ill and lethargic..our fosters immediately knew something was not right so they rushed us the vet. One by one we began testing positive for Parvo virus which is a very deadly disease in puppies that can turn very bad very quickly unless supportive care is given fast! Rovers Retreat Rescue along with hundreds of supporters and followers raised enough money for all my siblings and I to receive the best care possible! We spent about 5 nights in the scary hospital hooked up to IV fluids fighting for our lives, There were days where we wouldn’t eat and we were really fighting and there were days where we felt great..it was for sure a bumpy rollercoaster ride but the most amazing news is that all my siblings…including me fully recovered! I am ready to start the search for my forever family and its such a great feeling!

My foster family says I am a total joy to have around. I am being fostered with my sister along with 3 other dogs and 2 cats so its safe to say I get along with just about every animal I meet. I will require another young playful dog in my forever home and the rescue told me this is extremely important for all applicants to understand. I can’t help it..I am a puppy and LOVE to play. Speaking of being a puppy..I am very energetic and often times get the zoomies and run around the backyard like a maniac! I would really enjoy a large yard in my forever home to run and frolic..especially because I am going to be a large breed dog and need all the room I can get! My foster family has been teaching me basic commands such as sit and stay. I am learning more and more each day but I will definitely need some positive reinforcement training in my forever home so I can continue to learn and grow into a wonderful puppy! I am crate trained and sleep really nicely in my crate throughout the night. I am however still grasping the whole potty training concept so my forever family will really need to work with me in this category and understand accidents happen. I am very smart, eager to learn and treat motivated so I don’t think this will be too hard to learn..you will just need to be patient with me.

To recap, I will be need another young playful dog in my forever home (you can always think about adopting my sister as well so we can be together forever), a large yard for me to romp and roll and a family who will be dedicated to positive reinforcement training. All in all I am your typical puppy who just wants a family to call my own. I have had a rough past and I can’t wait for all the positive things to come in my future.

Please note: Kai is being fostered in West Hills, CA and his adoption fee is $500
