Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Check out that sweet face. He is saying, “pick me up, love me, cuddle me”. Skittles is a sweet brown tabby with white accents. He is estimated to be about 9 years old and totally exists to be loved, kissed and carried around.
We rescued Skittles when a dedicated PPAH foster saw him advertised for “free” in a neighborhood online newspaper, and asked if we would sponsor him. He was not in good physical shape and was taken to our vet for an exam and repeat diagnostics. The main concern was abnormal stool and lower than ideal body weight. We assume that he was being given away for free because they didn’t want to deal with his health issues. Throughout the subsequent daily medications and weekly trips to the vet, Skittles remained his same loving self; rubbing up against a leg for affection and looking up with those beautiful loving eyes.
Skittles was prescribed Hill’s Biome to manage what is thought to be IBD (irritable bowel disease). We thought that the food alone had solved the problem, as he has gained weight and his stool is mostly normal. But every now and then, he has IBD flare ups and needs to be on another round of meds. Skittles is very easy to medicate and we think this sweet boy is worth the extra investment.
Skittles is easy-going and tolerates other cats. But we think he would most enjoy life as an only cat; sitting on your lap or sleeping on his cozy bed all the while watching where you go so he can join you. He likely will have to remain on his prescription food, as well as intermittent meds to control IBD flare-ups, for the rest of his life. In his foster home, he is fed separately and does not have access to any food other than his own.
Skittles is a very loving, deserving cat. We can’t wait for him to find the perfect family who feels just the same.
