My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Ava was found in a Northpointe neighborhood. Signs were put up in the area and she was posted on neighborhood sites. Sadly, no one claimed this pretty girl. Emmy’s Hope Rescue began sponsoring Ava in July 2020.

Ava is a very sweet, happy-go-lucky, even-tempered and affectionate big girl. She is very curious and has a high energy level. She loves to run and play fetch with balls, ropes and frisbees. When she is not fetching, then she likes to carry something around in her mouth. She loves to be petted, shake hands and give hugs.

Ava needs a big yard to run around in and a loving, active family that’s experienced with big dogs.

Estimated birth date:  February 2019

Approximate weight:  70 lbs.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

1. Application
An adoption application is required, providing information about your family, as well as past and current pets.
2. Vet check
You give us permission to contact your veterinarian regarding current and/or past pets. You must have a good vet history, showing that you are a responsible pet owner.
3. Home visit
A home visit will be scheduled.
• To adopt a dog, you must have a fenced area. We will check it to make sure there are no escape routes. We will not leave a dog with you unless problem areas are fixed.
• To adopt a cat, the home environment must be safe for the cat. There needs to be a place where the cat can be isolated for several days until the new cat & current pets can get used to each other.
4. Trial run
There will be a minimum of a one week trial at your home, to make sure that the pet you have chosen is a good match with your family. If the pet does not work out, for whatever reason, we will take the pet back.
5. Adoption finalization
When we all agree that the pet is a good match with your family, the adoption can be finalized. An adoption contract is signed. You must promise to be a responsible and loving pet owner for the entire life of your new pet.
6. Adoption fees
• Dogs - $150
• Cats - $100
This fee helps defray the cost of vetting but by no means covers all the money already spent on your new pet. All rescues are completely vetted: all shots up-to-date, spayed/neutered and parasite free. (Dogs) are micro-chipped, heartworm negative and currently taking a heart worm preventative. (Cats) are tested and negative for FIV and FELV. Other health issues may also have been treated and you will get a history of anything that’s been done.
