Here's what the humans have to say about me:
ADOPTION PENDING
Rohan - male, vet checked, neutered, vaccinated to date inclu. Rabies, heartworm tested (-), dewormed, tx flea preventative, ~5yr, ~8lbs, Japanese Chin.
Rohan’s aging owner was no longer able to care for him and regretfully surrendered him to a high kill shelter before realizing rescue was more positive option for him.
Rohan is a super little dog, he likes being picked up and doesn’t mind being touched and handled all over his body, he will come over and asked to be picked up (hugs are good stuff) but he isn’t overly needy. He likes daily walks and lots of cuddles and doesn’t mind being carried around. He is good with other dogs out in the yard and in general, he will even share doggy bed space, a crate or your couch with another dog but doesn’t seem to be too fond of sharing lap space when someone is holding him, he pays no attention to the cats and although he seems fine with respectful children of any age Rohan needs a home with no small kids (under 8yrs) due to his smaller, dainty size. He is house trained and crate trained and likes a bed in his crate and likes to have access to it but doesn’t need to be locked in when left alone, he is given free roam in his foster home and is always a good boy. His foster family says he gets little spurts of energy and likes to whip around for a few minutes, he will also race laps around you like this if you are tossing a ball in the air but strangely enough he gives you a disappointed look when you throw it, he’s not the fetching type, just the clown around type…then its back to following someone around, laying in the sun on the grass or napping on the back of the couch. This breed does shed; Japanese Chin’s are actually part of the Spaniel Group! Rohan’s silky coat should be brushed regularly to keep it free of tangles. Care should be taken to wipe the eyes clean each day so this boy will require a little grooming care. He is very good for having his eyes wipe with a warm cloth. Rohan does not mind any grooming, not even nail clipping or wiping his eyes, he is such a well behaved boy. Rohan is a perfect little gentleman for a quiet and more mature home. He wouldn’t mind a place that wants to do a little spoiling; he’d like a winter jacket and regular brushing so he can stay handsome and stylish. Did we mention Rohan almost never barks? So far his foster family has only heard him “almost” bark when he was at the door to come inside from a potty break on a rainy day! If you are not familiar with this breed please research BEFORE you apply to adopt - http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/japanesespaniel.htm . Rohan has been groomed by CK’s Pet Grooming and will receive FREE nail clipping for life form CK’s Pet Grooming! Rohan was great for his groomer even when she had to clip some painful hot spots from his skin. What a great little guy!
