SHIH TZU – FEMALE – 6 YO – 10 LBS. – GRAY-WHITE
SHIH TZU – MALE – 4 YO – 11 LBS. – GOLD-WHITE
They will NOT be split up as they cry immediately without each other. Charlotte and Kolby are both sweet little darlings that are very friendly but extremely scared being away from their family. They were surrendered due to a divorce situation and clearly miss their family.
They are both very well-mannered in their foster home, housebroken, and they have been very quiet thus far and non-destructive. They are both very scared right now and like to be held and coddled which helps them calm down. They will require a patient home where they can quietly decompress and adjust to their new home and owner.
They do not have a bite history as far as we know but while in their current foster home, Kolby nipped when the foster tried to take a tissue away from him. He was definitely not giving up that tissue and was quite serious. We do not know if this is an isolated incident due to a strange person and environment or if it is indicative of an ongoing behavior.
Kolby has been somewhat curious of the other small pups in their foster home but is not really interested in engaging with them. He likes playing with toys. Charlotte has shown little interest in the other pups but will occasionally jump in if they are chasing each other around the yard. They both lived with other dogs, so this is likely just due to being scared and the new environment.
Given their fear level, size, and potential for nipping, we are seeking a home with no small children and with a very secure yard as they are both major flight risks. Charlotte spends her time in the yard sizing up the top of the fence and would clearly make a run for it if she could reach the top on her own.
They are both fixed and were brought UTD on shots, have clean bloodwork and are HW negative.
CHARLOTTE & KOLBY DETAILS
- 6 yo 11 lb. female gray and white Shih Tzu (Charlotte)
- 4 yo 12 lb. male gold and white Shih Tzu (Kolby)
- Housebroken, non-destructive, quiet
- Fixed, UTD, good bloodwork, HW negative
- Very friendly and affectionate but scared with all the changes
- May nip when guarding something deemed his
- Requires adult home with no small children living or visiting
- Requires time to decompress and adjust
- Requires securely fenced in yard
- Adoption fee is $350 each ($700 total)
