Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Athena (F) Approx. DOB 2/26/20
Hello future owner! My name is Athena.
I'm your typical Tortoishell, but with added purr-sonality. If you don't know about Tortoishell cats, please read about us. We're pretty famous felines and are often associated with good luck throughout many cultures. I heard Freddie Mercury even wrote a song about his favorite Tortie, Delilah. I can be a diva sometimes and truly appreciate the finer things in life (especially dessert). I don't know what it is about confections, but I cannot help myself. My foster humans know that it's not good for me and so, I am not permitted to indulge. It's really unfair, but I know they're only looking out for me. It doesn't matter because my all-time favorite things are cuddling and playtime. I can put you to sleep if you'll allow me to settle down on your lap or chest or I'll give you a side stitch from laughing with my flips and fetching abilities. I love all types of humans, but I love anyone who will allow me to be a part of the action. Kids, adults, other cats… it doesn't matter, I'm there for you. I'm extremely helpful around the house and provide both comedic relief and emotional support. I would be happy to work at home with you or go with you on business trips. I travel light and am ready whenever you are. Basically, I'm needy, but in the best possible way. While I'd rather not be compared to a canine, that is what my foster family often says. I try my best to communicate with them in my wide vocabulary of meows and purrs in order to prove my superiority to dogs.
As you might have noticed, my eyes are a little different. I've had a few check ups with the vet at VCA Eye Clinic for Animals in regards to my eyelid agenesis (a congenital defect that caused me to be born without upper eyelids). As I've grown, it seems to have improved and I surely don't let it get in my way. I am a champion huntress with impeccable fly catching skills. However, the vet says that I'll need a check up in six months to determine if I'll truly need a surgery. The kind people at East County Animal Rescue ECAR have agreed to take care of me if the need arises. As of now, due to the way my eyes and nose work together I have a little trouble with my tear ducts and need a little assistance wiping my eye or nose every now and then. I also need some eye medication to keep from having dry eyes. Some might consider me "special needs" and while I'll agree that I am special, I will say that you don't know what you're missing. I am the family member you didn't know you needed and I'll never let you down.
Kitten purrs and whisker kisses,
Athena
