Vintage came to Where The Wild Things Are Rescue in rough shape. Laying under a broken truck with horrible eye infections, riddled with bullets, and a broken hip from being hit most likely by a car.
He’s currently at Martinez Animal Hospital and will be needing Eye Surgery to fix his inverted eye lids, hip surgery and neutering to bring him to a pain free life. Feel free to stop in and give him some love!

Vin’s full story:

Where The Wild Things Are Rescue was contacted about 2 stray pitbulls in terrible life and death condition needing to be rescued in a countryside trailer park in waynesboro GA. One of these babies was “Vintage” or Vin as we call him for short.
Thought to blind, stumbling with a broke hip and dying we rushed out to save him. When we found him He had dug himself a hole under a broke down truck to lay in and as we would commonly see in these cases...to die in.
When we got him out he was extremely emaciated, eyes and head filled with puss and infection, stumbling with his hip poking out, covered in fire ants but not a yelp of pain from this poor boy. He gently took treats and after he could see we were there to help him he let us pick him up and carry him to the car. As we lifted him you could feel him take a big breath and sigh of relief.
We rushed him to Martinez Animal Hospital in Augusta Ga and started running tests and xrays. The owner of the home had called him old man, but we felt old man didn’t do this classic boy justice so we decided to call him “Vintage” or “Vin”
Covered in fleas, filled with parasites we got the diagnoses, his eyes were suffering from entropion (inverted eyelids) causing irritation and infection.
He had a broken hip most likely from being hit by a car or person. Most of his teeth or broken or ground down probably from the above and chewing on anything he could eat and he had buckshot in him from being shot at. If that wasn’t enough he came back Heart Worm positive.
Even with all that going on, he laid there on the table with his tail wagging with hope. Like he knew he was finally safe and going to get the care he deserves. Between the testing and the surgeries his care (testing, treatment and surgeries) will cost over $2500 and another ($500) for hw treatment after. He’s had a long road, and his road to recovery if far from over. But every day he makes improvements, his body is healing and his tail is wagging.
We think he’s only about 6-8yr old so he’s still got lots of life to live. During the day the ladies at the vet office let him lay up front with them. He’s got the sweetest disposition and loves all the people and animals and kisses he can get. They say he makes the best office manager ☺️
If you can help this sweet boys medical care we and he would certainly appreciate the love and care. He deserves the best life and his furever home Is waiting for him right after his recovery!

We are accepting adoption applications for Vintage, his final surgery is on 9/7/20….
