My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This handsome gentleman goes by many names around our shelter - Stanley, Staniel, Stan the (old) Man, the light of our life, the Stan in our skies... Whatever nickname we go with there’s just no describing our delightful little ‘old man’ Stanley, but we’ll do our best to put into words what a truly one of a kind kitty he is!

Stanley is looking for a home that's going to love him for everything that he is - His whimsical and dopey face, his penchant for falling asleep absolutely anywhere (and we mean ANYWHERE), his big purrs, his bursts of energy, his adorable pony-style gallop when he gets excited, his amazing nose kisses and headbutts, his stubby little tail, and his honest to goodness heart of gold.

When you first meet Stanley, you may get a good look at his unique face and think to yourself 'Wow, this guy looks like he ate a sour lemon. What a total grumpy looking old man' and we wouldn't blame you for that. When you don't know Stan, he definitely LOOKS like a grump... But then you hear his deep, rumbling purrs, you see him start to drool as you massage his cheeks, and you kiss his head as you hold him in your arms, and suddenly those gorgeous wise-beyond-his-years eyes don't look so unfamiliar anymore. He has the gaze of somebody who has been looking for a forever home for a long time.

Once Stanley tucks his head sweetly under your chin and kneads as you kiss his little forehead, you are totally hooked on this amazing and gentle guy. Despite the fact that we affectionately call him 'Old Man Stan', he's actually only 11 years young and he's still as spry as any whippersnapper! Stanley happily, climbs and trots with no problem at all. He weaves right between our legs the moment we open the door to our office (Stanley's office as far as he's concerned) and he's off like a sprite to the front window where he can gaze at the world outside. Stanley just loves to soak up the sun and lay right next to the water dish so that he has a cool drink on demand while he works on his (S)tan.

Along with all of Stanley's special qualities, he also has a special need - This gorgeous bob-tailed guy's thyroid just doesn't work the way it's supposed to. This is the reason that a one in a million cat like Stanley has unfortunately had so much trouble finding his forever home, even though it's not a big deal at all! All he needs to keep that pesky thyroid in check is a pill twice a day - Thankfully Stanley is a very well-behaved boy and takes his supplement with no hesitation inside of a pill pocket which we smush onto the side of a kitty treat, and then you're both back to enjoying your day!

Stanley deserves the love of a forever home, he deserves a family who will adore him unconditionally and treat him like the treasure he is.
