My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

**If you are interested in Pearl, please fill out an adoption application on our website: www.roversretreat.org**

This cutie is Pearl, a 10-month-old beagle/lab/possibly cocker mix who came into rescue when her owners could no longer care for her. She has been settling in at her foster home and is now ready to meet her perfect family!

Pearl’s favorite actives include being outdoors, playing with toys, and having cuddle time with her foster parents after a good game of fetch. She definitely has puppy energy but settles down quite nicely after a walk or playtime. Pearl is currently getting two walks a day and is getting better with her leash walking each and every time. She can be a bit reactive to some dogs on leash, but not others. Pearl will need owners dedicated to socializing and doing positive reinforcement training to help her in this area.

Pearl didn’t have the opportunity to meet other dogs or many people prior to rescue, so this socializing is new to her. She will need an adopter who will help her meet new people and new dogs safely and patiently. In the time she has been in her foster home she has gotten a lot more comfortable meeting new people in her home environment. While she may take a minute to warm up, she is a total love bug once she does! She is definitely a people dog and loves to be with her foster parents all the time.

She is very smart and eager to please so training will be easy. Her list of tricks currently includes sit, down, drop it, and she’s working on learning stay, too! She is also doing well with potty training. She will of course need some additional direction in this area in her forever home until she gets on a schedule and learns where she’s supposed to potty.

Pearl’s ideal forever home would include someone active who is home a lot, dedicated to working with her using positive reinforcement training, as well as a home where she can be the only doggie and be the center of attention! Pearl would do very well in a home with teenagers, too, but no young kids.

If you think Pearl could be the doggie for you, please fill out an adoption application on our website: roversretreat.org
