Please note, we are a Texas based rescue that transports our pups once
they are adopted. All of our dogs reside in foster homes in TX, so much is known
about their temperament, training level and personality. Thank you for wanting to adopt!
To begin, I would like to share the background of my unusual name;
Chewbacca, nicknamed "Chewie", is a fictional character in the Star Wars franchise. He is a Wookiee, a large and intelligent species from the planet Kashyyyk. Chewbacca is the loyal friend and first mate of Hans Solo.
Haha...although I am NOT a Wookie from the planet Kashyyyk, I am a large, 5 month old Anatolian Shepard/German Shepherd mix boy puppy. The original Chewbacca and I share many personality traits; I am loyal, loves hoomans, and am athletic, strong, and playful.
At my young age, I am also very malleable and willing and ready to please!! When Foster Mum goes out to feed the horses and livestock, I stay right with her...in and out of the barns, grain room, horse pens. When we goes walking, I am off leash and stay right by her side. I also knows how to walk on leash very nicely.
I am friendly and outgoing and love playing with the other dogs. I need a home that is active and has a nice yard or acreage as I am going to be a big boy when I gets grown! Common sense dictates that I will be best in a home without tiny dogs and small children...only because of my size!! My paw or wagging tail might accidentally swoosh into a toddler or tiny dog and knock it over!! I am non- aggressive and would only be trying to play, but my paws are huge! Older children are A-OK!! Most likely, I am not a candidate for life in an apartment, either.
I currently weigh in at 40 pounds, so most likely will be a 75-80 pound dog when I reach my adulthood size. Like the original "Chewie", I have silky, tawny colored, shaggy hair that hangs down around my gorgeous, expressive, dark brown peepers and a funny "cowlick" (hair growth pattern) on the top of my head that makes my hair stand up!!
I love to play with other dogs, people and toys. I have never met a dog I didn't like!!
