Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Do you love terriers? Are you looking for a new companion that’s full of energy and ready for fun and adventure at a moment’s notice? Do you appreciate a mischievous “Dennis the Menace” streak topped with just a touch of stubborn & head strong? Are you willing to be on the receiving end of a little dog’s undying loyalty and protection and love – to have those sweet brown eyes always looking out for you? If you answered yes (and who wouldn’t really) then do we ever have the dog for you!
Meet Charlie!
Charlie is fun-loving ball of energy. Everything is a toy – his toys are toys, your socks are toys, sticks are toys… You see where this is going. It if fits in his mouth and he can get to it, it’s a toy. He loves to play with people and with the other dogs. Chase is his fave – and he can run like the wind! Tug-of-war and keep away are also popular. Loves to wrestle and roll around and just be nutty with the other dogs.
Like a lot of terriers, he does have a high prey drive. He will sit on the deck with us and just watch – waiting for movement of any kind – waiting for a squirrel or chipmunk or bird to make a mistake. Without any training, he knows how to quietly stalk to get close enough. Just shows how strong genetics are. He hasn’t caught anything yet (thankfully), but he has high hopes! A home with small animals (birds, hamsters, etc.) would not be good.
True to his terrier roots, he is independent and has his own thoughts and opinions on things. He wants to be with you always, but does not need to be on you – not a clingy dog. He’ll jump up for a few minutes to get some love and then he’s off. When I’m working, he’ll lay under the desk / chair and just relax. He is, however, very connected to the people/dogs in the house. If something is wrong he is the first one there – very concerned and attentive until he’s sure that all is OK. If something or somebody that doesn’t belong is near, you will know it immediately. Excellent little watch dog!
He is not the type of dog to run up to strangers for pets, etc. He is a bit aloof with people he doesn’t know. Very affectionate with those he does, however.
True to his terrier nature, he needs a lot of activity and benefits from something to do. Unless he can channel his energy and smarts, he’ll find something to do. Chances are you won’t like it. A tired Charlie is a well-behaved Charlie!
He has a true sense of adventure. Loves the car and to be out and about – having all kinds of new experiences, sights and sounds. Would be a fantastic dog for hiking, boating and maybe even short jogs! He would also excel at any kind activity that uses his agile mind as well as uses up that terrier energy and traits – agility, hide n seek, flyball, etc. Anything that he can do with his person gets a big paws up!
Charlie will be a fantastic best bud / partner in crime for the right person. Is that you?
