My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Please note, we are a Texas based rescue that transports our pups once they are adopted. All of our dogs reside in foster homes, so much is known about their temperament, training level and personality. We know adopting a dog sight unseen can be daunting, so we are happy to share additional videos, photos and even let you Facetime with the pup. Thank you for wanting to adopt!

How does a pretty little girl with the proud south of the border Chihuahua hairytage have the beautiful German name of Gretchen? Funny you should ask :)

I actually picked my own name!! Foster mom tried calling me several different names, none of which I would respond to. She came upon the name Gretchen, and I instantly got very excited and started responding to the name.

Getchen means "Pearl" in German...and I am definitely a "Pearl" by any one's definition. Foster Mum says I am the perfect dog. I am house trained, crate trained, walk well on a leash, come when called (by my correct name :) and never tear up things that don't belong to me. I am good with other dogs, kids, and cats. I don't bark excessively (only to alert Foster Mum to the presence of possible intruders) and am fastidious in my personal habits.

I sleep curled up next to Foster Mum at night and I snuggle on her lap for TV viewing in the evenings....did I mention that I love to snuggle? I am very gentle and don't scratch or claw...ever!!

My other favorite things are going for long walks, car rides, and playing with my toys. My little Lamb Chop toy is my favorite, and I play hide and seek with it all of the time (with me doing both the hiding and seeking!!)

How did a nice girl like me end up in the Rescue Gig? I was found by my rescue angel on her way home from the San Antonio Livestock Show and Rodeo. I was laying in the street waiting for my owner to come find me. To no avail :( I didn't have a microchip, so we weren't able to find my original owners.

I have been living with Foster Mum in a great little townhouse with an awesome balcony. One of my favorite pass times is to sit on the balcony and watch the humming birds. These beautiful little creatures have become my friends; they fly just above my head to say hello everyday!!

At 3 years young and only 12 pounds, I am in the prime of my lifetime and would love to share it with you!!
