My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Meet Harley!  Born around June 2019, this cautious, even-tempered girl is on the small side at 60 pounds.  When she finishes filling out, she will probably weigh around 70 pounds.

We don’t know much about Harley’s backstory.  It seems she was not allowed in the house very often or given much positive reinforcement. The first time she came in the house at her foster home, she started shaking all over like she wasn’t supposed to be inside. And at night she had to be coaxed into the house and assured that it was okay to be there.  So, it may take her a bit to learn to trust you; and until she knows and understands your rules, she may be very quiet and reserved.

Sometimes she acts like the kid who’s used to be getting picked last in gym class, but this time is getting picked first!  When you call her over, she kind of looks around and says, “Who me?” And she doesn’t always come because she just assumes you are calling another.

She’s super cute in the morning.  After being let outside for her morning potty break, and then getting morning greetings from her foster mom, Harley gets SO excited, she even jumps and whines a little.  This is her giving you attention and love!  A little time and tender loving care are all it takes to win her over.

During the day, Harley likes to hang out in the house.  She’s a dog rug.  So far, she hasn’t gotten on the furniture.  After she becomes more confident, you might be able to convince her to snuggle with you on the couch.

When not lounging, Harley loves playing with other dogs.  In her forever home, she needs doggy friend that will run around and play chase with her.  Having a constant canine buddy will help assure her that everything is okay.  It doesn’t have to be a puppy, just one that will romp and play chase with her in the backyard.

She is really good with that cat in her foster home, but if the cat sprints past, Harley will engage in a game of chase.  She isn’t aggressive with the cat, but if the cat wants to play a game of ‘cat and dog’, she’s up for it!

This sweetheart likes treats and savors them after taking them very gently from your fingers.  She isn’t food aggressive at all.

Harley is fully house trained.  She is not yet super comfortable on a leash because she is still tentative about leaving the house.  She rides nicely in a car.  She is not much of a barker, only warning you when she sees people walking by.

Harley wants a patient and loving family to make her feel secure.  Toddlers and babies might accidentally startle her, so she might do best if children in the home are older. She so badly wants to be part of your life, and sometimes she needs re-assuring to let her know she’s wanted.

SPIN Pyrs are all in foster homes in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Potential adopters are asked to make travel arrangements if they live elsewhere. All SPIN dogs are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations and on heartworm prevention. Please go to our website www.SpinRescue.org and fill out an application for this great Great Pyrenees!
