My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Otis has had a rough life! He was one of the last of a sick litter of kittens trapped at Ka Makana Ali'i. By the time he was finally able to be caught, his Upper Respiratory Infection had gotten so bad that it caused an issue where his conjunctiva tissue adhered to his eye globe. He has seen a number of vets to get him nice and healthy, and even got to visit an amazing veterinary ophthalmologist. She believes that at some point, both of his eyes ruptured, and the tissue that adhered to his eyes helped patch up the holes. Isn't that amazing? tAlthough surgery is an option to remove the tissue, it would be very expensive, and there is no guarantee that he would have full vision or that the condition wouldn't recur.

Despite all of this, and the fact that Otis is mostly blind (he can see somewhat, likely shadows and peripheral vision), he lives an amazing and completely normal life. His foster mom says he can be shy at first but warms up quickly. He gives the best kisses ever - like he is grateful for living the indoor life now. Otis loves to climb up on his foster to give her head butts and kisses. He loves to cuddle up on your chest and will snuggle all night long. If his foster mom had one word for him, it would be "perfect."

If it weren't for the tissue on his eyes, you would never know he had something wrong with his eyes. He loves to run, play, and chases his cat friends just like he has perfect vision. While you may have to give him some time to adjust to his new environment, he will catch on quickly and have no problems at all navigating around the house.
