My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Merida, and I was surrendered to the shelter with my puppies and their dad back in February.

My puppies all got adopted, but no one came looking for a scared mama dog like me.

I was chosen for the PAWS program, and I have learned so much about the world. Did you know that humans are kind of awesome? Treats are also awesome. The world isn’t so scary anymore.

I’m a 1-2 year old Husky mix and I graduate on August 5. I am looking for a forever home... and I really hope I can find someone who’ll love me even though I still think some things are scary. We’ll have to take it slow, you know? In this world of instant gratification, is that even possible to find?

I like other dogs, but they often want to pick on me because of my timid nature. If I’m going to have doggy friends they need to have the kindest hearts around.

So... what do you say? Are you the one for me? Can you take it slow and give me time to trust you? Can you promise to let me learn about the world with you? If so, please fill out an adoption application: www.viva-nm.org My adoption fee is $250 and that covers all of the vet care & training I received in the program.

Oops. My name is Merida, like from the movie Brave... because my rescuers wanted me to learn to be Brave. Can I come learn with you? ❤️
