My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Barley is an incredibly sweet, gentle girl who adores people. She is a favorite at the vet and even “smiles” when greeting people! She is gentle and low key so if you’re looking for a marathon training partner, she is not the dog for you. However, if you are looking for a Netflix marathon parner - Barley is your girl! She’ll even snuggle - but she’ll expect you to share the popcorn.

Barley is a larger dog and named for the color of her coat. She is low maintenance, has no health problems, and never ever has accidents in the house. She rings a bell when she needs to go out. She can be left loose in the house when left alone and will not be destructive. She may not even touch what treat you leave her until you return.

Barley is currently living in Rhode Island with her family, but sadly needs a new home as she no longer gets along with her sister dog. She currently lives with family in an attached apartment safely separated from the other dogs, but it’s just not a long-term solution. Her family loves her so much and, though it breaks their hearts to let her go, they know she is very stressed and would be happier in another home. A quieter area would be ideal, where there are few people passing by to agitate her. Similarly, we recommend she not live with kids under 13 or so because she will likely be overwhelmed, though she is good around kids.

Barley and her family are currently working hard to improve her leash manners, especially when walking past other dogs, to help her succeed in her new home. Her new family will receive a session for support, advice, and training from Jones Animal Behavior (www.jonesanimalbehavior.com) in an effort to make the transition to her new home as smooth as possible.

Due to COVID-19 regulations, we will be offering meet & greets for pre-approved applicants only.
