My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

BIRDIE, FEMALE, 1 YEAR OLD, 50 POUNDS

BIRDIE IS BEING FOSTERED IN THE RICHMOND VA AREA. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN BIRDIE, PLEASE GO TO WWW.MOMSVA.ORG AND COMPLETE AN APPLICATION.

They call me Birdie…well my foster parents sometimes call me "Birdieroo" because I can jump so high they think I must be part kangaroo! I've finished my heartworm treatment and have even gone through formal e-collar training. I know several commands and my foster Mom is continuing to work with me using positive reinforcement techniques. I'm doing a great job. I'm just really smart and full of energy so sometimes I need help focusing. My new person and/or family will need to commit to continuing to work with me on my manners. I do very well in my crate as long as I get enough exercise when I am out and I've never met a squeaky toy or person that I don’t love to play with. I'm looking for an active home that can keep me busy but the most important thing to me is to be able to be around my people who I love to cuddle with on the couch, watching t.v., at the end of the day.

I get super excited around other dogs so the great folks at MomsVA think I would do best as an only dog or in a home with a young, very playful, middle- to large-sized male dog. My forever home should not have cats as I have a very strong prey drive. I’m kinda bouncy, so young children would not be best right now because I might accidentally knock them over in my excitement.

Even after my rough start in life, I am still full of joy and silliness. I make my foster family laugh every day! If you are looking for a loyal and loving furry family member and think we could be a match, go to www.momsva.org and complete an application.
