My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Goes to Amherst. Hooked up with your best friend at Lolla, never texted back. Self-identifies as the "Brorannosaurus Flex." Loves to dance. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Intake Date: 9 Aug 2020 ----- Age at intake: 3 yrs ----- Breed: Great Pyrenees / Newfoundland blend----- Size: 80 lbs ----- Status: owner surrender ----- Compatible with: unk ----- Suitable for: home with a securely fenced yard. Must be 6 feet or 4 foot with wireless fence ----- Medical/Behavioral needs: none noted ----- Additional Notes: Pepper came to us after living with a foster for over a year. His family moved to Germany and since extending, decided it best to allow him to find a new home. His foster reached out to us as she said she wanted the best so here we are! From what we have been told, Pepper lacks basic boundaries and training. We will learn more about him to confirm or deny his reported behaviors and work with what we discover. So far, we have been told (will update as we learn more) that he is dog selective, resource guards food against dogs, does not like cats, jumps on children, will destroy a crate, and can jump a 4 foot fence. What we HAVE verified about him is that he pulls on a leash. We will test the other things and start with a tough crate. So far, he has not messed with the 6 foot fence at all and kennels easily in an actual kennel (not a crate). We haven't crate tested yet. He is a BIG boy that will require coat maintenance. We are going to work on the basics with him and set some boundaries and go from there. I don't foresee a huge issue. May just be needing some discipline in his life, structure, and enforced standards and expectations. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If interested in meeting and potentially adopting please read the adoption requirements and complete the adoption application located at forbellessake.org. Once processed and approved a meet and greet can be scheduled and if a match an adoption is finalized at that time. FBS standard adoption fee is $175 and all dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and treated for any known medical needs. Breeds are not guaranteed but often a best guess. Housetraining is not guaranteed but crate training is worked on with all residents. If a yard is present, a secure fence is mandatory. Pepper requires a home with a fenced yard.
