Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Coming Soon in California:
Hi! I’m Merlot, a 1.5 year old male Australian Shepherd.
Merlot is sweet, loyal and a love bug but is also sensitive and wary of new strangers. He will NEED a SMART handler!!
Merlot needs a person who is savvy with sensitive dogs but is also physically capable of handling a 55 lb strong young dog. He is good with most dogs but needs time to warm up to people. Once warmed up, Merlot is a love and wants to soak up all of the attention.
Merlot NEEDS the following:
-A SAVVY handler who is alright saying “he prefers not to be pet right now” and will control and manage his environment
-someone with time and the physical strength to handle a young dog with minimal training
-NO FIRST TIME DOG OWNERS!! I’m sorry but Merlot needs an experienced handler
-Merlot needs to go somewhere quiet, no apartments (no exceptions)
-Merlot is generally good with kids but he will not go to a home with them as his manners are not the best
-a dedicated owner is a must. Merlot is a LOVE but he needs work. He is young and is still being socialized
What would be great but not NEEDED:
A friendly, good tempered dog that will set a good example for him. He loves his foster sister and has bonded to other dogs as well. Sometimes he does need time to warm up to some dogs but he seems to quickly be-friend other polite dogs.
Merlot is UTD, neutered and chipped. He is also “crate experienced” but I wouldn’t say 100% crate trained. He is also house trained and is mostly a great dog when in the house.
If Merlot sounds like a good fit for your home, please fill out an Adoption Application. He will be in foster care for as long as needed to find the right forever home.
