My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Rex is a young 1-2 year old, 75 pound, Chocolate Labrador Retriever that grew up in a kennel. Luckily for Rex he was saved after the family moved away and left him behind. Rex is just learning what it feels like to be loved and cared for. He craves attention being he was ignored for so long. As soon as he was freed we learned he had trapped energy that overrules him lacking manners. Rex is a smart and loving boy and finally is getting the attention and guidance he needs to overcome his unruliness. He has already learned to “sit” to get petted or a treat. Rex is not for the weak or those that have never rolled up their sleeves and worked with a dog. Rex will need to learn how to live within rules with manners and obedience and can. He has it in him like all dogs to be lead and to please, with the right leader. He is a quick study and already learning how to be around other dogs and people. His energy level is high so young children is definitely not recommended at this time in his life. He would do well with a very active individual or couple that can give him plenty of attention, activity and love. He does require a large fenced in yard to roam around in when not indoors. He hasn’t had any accidents and is going through crate training. He prefers not to be in a crate, but you cannot blame him after living that past horrific life. Rex would prefer a stay-at-home or work-from-home family member so he can just hang out with you in whatever you are doing. Rex will require an experienced Labbie family willing to not only take that extra mile with him, but also willing to get him through training so he can be the best he can be. Rex currently isn't ready to leave us needing so much, but if you are someone willing to roll up your sleeves and interested in this boy you are welcomed to turn in your pre-adoption application. http://www.southernskiesrescue.org/adoption-application Rex has been neutered, up-to-date on all vaccines, heartworm tested negative (very surprisingly) and placed on monthly prevention plus micro-chipped. LOCAL FOSTERS ARE WELCOMED TO HELP.
