Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Carissa, our new little darling, is a 20 lb., 2 year old Border Terrier mix. She is not spayed and she will need some initial help with her housebreaking. Carissa is painfully shy until she makes friends with you, but once you have her trust she becomes your Velcro dog. You will not win her heart over quickly, so she will probably need an adopter who can spend time with her, and visit her 2 or 3 times before taking her home. But as you can see from her photos, once she trusts you, the rewards are great; she will make herself right at home tucked underneath your arm or lounging in your lap. Another friendly dog in the household, to bolster Carissa’s confidence, might be just the ticket for Carissa. We have no knowledge about her history with cats but Carissa is such a sweet little thing it is hard to imagine she would be anything but gracious with a cat. We don’t recommend Carissa for a home with children because she startles easily and really needs a calm and quiet place where she feels safe. An easy going household will help her shine. We would like to place Carissa with a retired couple or individual who understands the value of an unhurried pace and “going slow,” someone who has a gentle voice and hands and lots of time and attention to share with this sensitive little girl. If you feel Carissa tugging at your heart and feel able to help her face life’s challenges, please submit an application online or stop by the shelter to fill one out there; you may also contact Tri-County Animal Rescue Center on Facebook, call 814-918-2032, or email: contactus@Tricounty-arc.org
