Here's what the humans have to say about me:
SENIOR DOG EXPERIENCE A MUST!
MEET CHESTER! This super sweet 14 year old purebred WESTIE is a darling older fella who has a lot of pep in his step and a lot of love to give. (where are the Westie lovers?!)
Sadly, he was surrendered to the shelter in not so great shape after spending his entire life with his family, but despite this major upheaval to his life, he is settling into his foster home nicely and seems to be a love bug. He is very friendly with people and other dogs. Of course, he would be happy to be the only pup since he loves the attention!
Chester arrived with severe ear infections that he is on meds for. Once all healed up, and provided he is well enough, he will have a dental, neuter, and a fatty cyst removed, and will be brought UTD on his shots and preventatives.
Given Chester’s lower energy level, he would be perfect for someone who is retired and/or home all day and wants a new buddy to go for walks with or just hang out at home. He would do better in a home with no children or older children (teenager and up).
He is quiet in the house and doesn’t seem to hear the mailman (likely some loss of hearing due to the infections). He is also housebroken and a good eater. He takes his meds nicely with some cheese or peanut butter. He definitely wants to be with his people so needs an owner who wants a snuggle buddy.
Overall, this is a sweet guy who will be a fantastic companion for someone, and he deserves a loving home to spend his golden years.
If interested in adopting Chester, please send an email directly to: adopt@gingerbreaddogs.org and include your location, type of home, ages of everyone that lives in the home, work schedule, and experience with senior dogs. A vet reference, personal references, and home check is mandatory during the application process.
