My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET & GREET PENDING!!!

Ginger Rogers is a sweet little lady who comes to DREAM from a horrid puppy mill situation. I mean, horrid. She has been the mother to many litters, but that has happily come to an end for her. From now on, it's all about Ginger all the time. No more needy pups! Ginger was not treated as anything other than property and a money making machine in here previous life. Because of this, she's working on her girlish figure. She loves other dogs, both big and small, and finds comfort in being with them. Other dogs have never let her down like people have.

Ginger is a VERY shy girl. She simply is NOT going to trust you until she decides it is safe to do so, and that's okay. She'll need a home with a person who won't force her to fit in and who will provide her with softness and unconditional love. She can connect with people, but she picks who that is- on her terms in her own time. She would do best in a household that is calm and not hectic and that has other dogs for her to experience a bond with. Ginger is a red smooth coat with just a few hints of both dapple and piebald in her coat color. You can see hints of it around her nose and on her ears. If you're interested in this sweet muffin, please complete an online application at our website.

If you are selected as her adopter, we will require you to take 2 virtual training classes with our trainer before her adoption is finalized.

If you are interested in adopting Ginger, you can fill out an application right on our website! Go to our online adoption application. Ginger's adoption fee is $500. All adoption fees go directly to veterinary care for DREAM dachshunds. Ginger Rogers will go to her new home microchipped, altered, heartworm tested, up to date on vaccinations, and her other medical needs having been addresses, like a long overdue dental. Most dogs' veterinary expenses are greater than our adoption fees.

DREAM is an all-volunteer rescue group. We focus on the metro Atlanta area and can assist throughout the state of Georgia. Because we are all volunteers, we can consider applications only within an hour of these areas. DREAM does not recommend purebred dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a doxie's back.
