My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

River is an adult born (9.1.2017) spayed female Akita. She is up to date on vaccines, microchipped, on flea/heartworm prevention, heartworm negative, house trained, crate trained, and leash trained.

River came with Houston from an owner surrender to a rescue in N.C. (we are not sure why). Both are super sweet and are wonderful with leash and crate training. River has a defect in her hind leg that she was born with. The bow in her leg caused her to tear her ACL. This prompted the veterinarian in N.C. to recommend euthanasia. Thankfully the shelter didn't listen. She is okay for now but will eventually need a TPLO surgery to correct the torn ACL and it will correct the bow in her leg as well. For now, River could really benefit from a semi-active couple. River could go home with Houston OR with another male dog. They are not bonded.
