My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

PENDING MEET & GREET.

This little nugget is ready to go home to his forever family. Is it you?? One of the Puppy Mill Crew, he came to DREAM through a bit of a miracle, really. The stars aligned to get those sweet souls out of that hell on earth, and we think he landed pretty well with us. As with most PM dogs, he was not a 'pet.' He was a means to an end....money. Breed them, sell them, breed them again. Ryman is still young- ony three years old, so he's a gem...a diamond in the ruff if you will. (See what I did there?)
Anyway. Ryman's foster dad is fantastic and has been doing lots of socializing with him to get him out into the world and see that it's not always a big ol' scary place- especially when you have the right people around you. His foster brother is also another of the PM rescues and they get along like peas and carrots. The thing is, Ryman loves other dogs, like, LOVES them. He never misses an opportunity to approach them on walks and say hello. Isn't that the sweetest thing?! He's got a healthy curiosity about life, and though it may take him a little while to warm up, when he does, you've got a friend for life. We think he's playing hard to get....he's an observer...watches...decides...then goes for it. Things he's not fond of: sudden loud noises, being approached quickly without his consent, walking without a harness on, being pushed to stretch his limits before he's ready. Things he loves: kisses, snuggs, other dogs, his people, stuffies, prancing around the joint with his toys like he owns the place. If you think you can give Ryman his best life, please fill out an app!

If you are interested in adopting Ryman, you can fill out an application right on our website! Go to our online adoption application. Ryman's adoption fee is $500. All adoption fees go directly to veterinary care for DREAM dachshunds. All of our dogs will go to his / her new home microchipped, altered, heartworm tested, up to date on vaccinations, and all other medical needs addressed. Most dogs' veterinary expenses are greater than our adoption fees.

DREAM is an all-volunteer rescue group. We focus on the metro Atlanta area and can assist throughout the state of Georgia. Because we are all volunteers, we can consider applications only within an hour of these areas. DREAM does not recommend purebred dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a doxie's back.
