My story

COPPER, YOUNG MALE, 55 POUNDS, RICHMOND, VA

Hi! My name is Copper. I'm a floppy-eared hound mix and about a year old. I recently moved to the big city from a yucky outdoor pen way out in the sticks, where I didn't even have a name, or much human contact. I'm super SWEET and eager to be loved but new things still make me a bit nervous. I have learned to trust my foster mom with the help of her pups, but I still have a bit of learning to do. I would love another confident canine playmate to live with because it would help me understand the human world in dog language. I also have a lot of energy so daily walks and time to run and romp with another pup who likes me would be awesome! I haven't met a cat yet, but I love to chase squirrels and birds. I am house- and crate-trained and will go into my crate on my own, as long as there's a treat in there that needs to be chewed on...especially if it's peanut butter. Foster mom says I had to learn to be comfy in the crate because I am still a puppy inside and get into trouble when she's gone for a bit.

I really like my foster mom a lot and we snuggle and play. She says I have really come out of my shell after being here for 2 months. The best home for me will be one where my new person and family will be patient with me while I learn that the human world is safe and loving. My dream furever home is a quiet, low key household with a pup or two who like to party outside, but lounge inside (I'm very good at lounging!). My temporary human says I'm goofy and hilarious and am going to be the BEST dog!! If you have room in your heart and home for me, please go to www.momsva.org and complete an application.
