Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Daisy has worked hard to gain the skills needed to be a successful family member and now she is ready to shine. She is 2-3 years old, weighs 33 lbs, and has lived her entire life as a community dog in the Chinle area of the Navajo reservation. That means that various people would keep her fed but nobody took any other responsibility for her. There’s no telling how many litters of puppies she’s had and when we took her in she was loaded with ticks.
She has had never had a home or family before so literally everything is a brand new experience for her, which can sometimes by scary for her. She needs a family who understands that her life has been tough and she just now is getting a break. She feels very safe in her home and yard and is not likely to leave or wander too far, even if the gate is open. She doesn’t like doing anything wrong and only needs a very mild scolding when she does because her feelings get hurt easily.
She loves having humans who love her and also loves her dog friends. She’s shy and reserved and not much of a player but loves having her human and dog family around her. She’s calm and laid back and the thunder and fireworks don’t phase her. She’s not a big barker, but she does vocalize and when you come home she will talk to you and want to know where you’ve been and what took you so long. She will bond very strongly to her family once she realizes she can count on you to take care of her but will likely be somewhat shy and indifferent to your friends that come visit. She only needs you.
She is house trained and uses the doggie door. She’s not crazy about baths but deals with it. She’s just getting comfortable jumping into the car for car rides. She has been spayed, microchipped, and vaccinated. She has also been tested for heartworm, tick diseases, internal parasites, and giardia, and all tests have returned negative. All her test results will be provided to her new family at adoption, as well as her rabies tag, and microchip information.
Daisy deserves a great family who will love her unconditionally for the rest of her life and show patience with her as she still adapts to her new world. The application process includes a neutral meeting place to meet you and your dogs, an application, reference checks, home check, and adoption agreement.
If you are interested, please send an email as to why you are the best family and home for Daisy.
