11/20/09 - Zoe is loving life! She is such a happy little girl and gets a little better every day with her fear of people. She still barks at new people, but gets over it and stays in the room with them. She still plays with toys and would love for the other pups to play with her.
10/12/09 - Zoe is doing great!! Missing an eye hasn't slowed her down at all! She is getting a little better about people, although she is still very skittish. There were a bunch of people over a couple of weekends ago and at first she stayed upstairs but eventually made her way down and stayed down where all the people were. She didn't go up to anyone and would go away from people if they came near her, but she didn't hide the entire time they were over. She still needs work with house training as well. She will do her business outside, but hasn't quite learned to go to the door or tell you when she needs to go out.
9/8/09 - Zoe is doing great these days! She did end up having to go in last Thursday and have her left eye removed. The the eye drops were not working and her eye was getting worse. She had even developed an ulcer, which was probably from rubbing it all the time. But she is all better now and doing fantastic! She hasn't missed a beat without it, which means she probably could not see out of it anyway. She also had her teeth cleaned the week before and lost 11 teeth! She was already missing 10, so she only has half her teeth left!! She was spayed at the same time she had her teeth cleaned. You can tell she is feeling absolutely great now! She loves toys and just whips them around or stock piles them in her bed. She loves affection and to give kisses, but is still very skittish and scared of so many things. We are working with her to try and get her over her more obvious fears. She does great with other dogs, but is afraid of people, sudden movement and even some noises. The only person she is comfortable with right now is her foster mom. She will go up and smell or lick her foster dad if he is not looking or let him pet her if foster mom is holding her, but other than that is afraid and keeps her distance. Hopefully over time she will learn she does not need to be afraid of so many things. It is wonderful to see Zoe feeling so much better after having her horrible teeth cleaned and her eye taken care of.
8/18/09 - Hi! My name is Zoe! I have spent my life so far just having babies, but now is my time to live! I went into the vet yesterday and the only issue I have is dry eye. The doctor has put me on some medicine for the next week to see if we can get my eye to produce tears on its own. If it cannot, we will decide what to do next, but thankfully it is only one of my eyes! I am a little skittish at times, but will come up to you and give you lots of kisses and I LOVE massages! I do have some sores on my body that the doctor thinks came from fleas, but I do not have fleas any longer and they are healing up very nicely! I also need to lose a little weight, but I am working on that. Soon I will go into have my teeth cleaned and to be spayed, and then I will be ready for my new fur-ever home!
