My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Murphy is: * Intelligent * Full of personality * Sweet * Energetic * Handsome Murphy's forever home: * Will have a loving and patient human * Will have a confident dog that has a tolerance for a young and active floof! * Will have a fenced in backyard * Will be willing to participate in a meet and greet near Kalamazoo, Michigan

Murphy is a one year old, Red Merle Aussie. Murphy, also lovingly referred to as Murph and Murph Smurf, is ready to start the search for his forever home. Murph had a rough start to life and his forever family will have to be understanding of this. He has been learning how to be a dog and has become quite fond of the house dog life.

Murphy is house trained and sleeps in a crate at night. He also goes into a crate when foster mom leaves the house as he has been known to chew on things that aren't his to chew on (he is a young and curious boy after all). Murphy walks well on a leash in quiet areas, but can be spooked in busy areas. He is high energy and will need a home committed to exercising him. However, once he zooms around, he is perfectly content resting for a few hours. He has grown to love attention in the form of pets, but he isn't one to snuggle up on the couch. He prefers to 'sploot' or stretch out on the floor, close enough to his family to keep an eye on things, but safe at a distance. He loves his fur brother and fur sister more than anything. He has also made friends with the neighbor dog. Murphy is a bit shy and tends to prefer female humans to male humans, but with time (and cheese), he warms up. He bonded quickly with his foster mom and has become quite the velcro wiggle butt. Murph Smurf will boop foster mom with his nose when he is excited and has the most adorable head tilt when he's curious.

Murphy's forever home will need to have a confident dog who loves to play. He must have a fenced in backyard so he can safely exert all of his young Aussie energy. Given his young age, he has moments in which he is rowdy and rambunctious. He will jump over and roll under his fur sister when playing in the backyard. He can be quite vocal when playing, especially when he is excited. He loves to play bow, wrestle, and run. His future fur sibling will need to welcome his enthusiastic play style. He is unsure of dog toys, especially those that squeak, but this is improving with time. Unfamiliar sounds and fast movements can startle Murphy, thus he would likely do best in a home with no children, or children over 12. Murphy loves car rides and rode in a crate from Missouri to Michigan to get to his foster home. He was so quiet, you didn't even know he was there! Murph is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and microchipped. He is on monthly preventatives for flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. He is fostered near Kalamazoo, MI. Murphy will need a patient family and one that is willing to commit to ongoing confidence building, socialization, and basic obedience. In return, he will reward his family with a lifetime of charm, goofiness and love.
