My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Rex is a male black, tan and white chihuahua. He is 5 years old and he weighs 14 pounds. Rex is neutered and vaccinated including rabies. He tested heartworm negative and is receiving monthly heartworm prevention. He is ready for adoption.

Rex needs a home willing to let him be himself. He is an observer and connects with his person in small ways, but he isn’t much one to interact. Rex learns a routine and has been adaptable to doggie door, scheduled potty breaks, or potty pads, whatever suits the home. Rex needs a one-person home. He doesn’t mind other dogs but we think he would be more attached to his human if he was an only dog. Rex likes to be where he can see his person, and he will approach for treats once he’s comfortable. He likes blankets, toys, and his crate being available when he wants it. Rex will require some patience and effort to gain his trust, but he should be able to become a TV watching buddy. He enjoys time outside to sunbathe or nap in the shade too. Rex will probably never be “normal” but he is no trouble and has the potential to be good company for someone who doesn’t want a needy dog.
