My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, I’m Onyx, a beautiful 3 year old girl. I was found roaming the streets as a stray so I’m learning all kinds of new things in my foster home. I’m a very sweet but extremely nervous around new people. I am still very uncomfortable and scared on a leash so a home with a fenced yard is a MUST. My foster mom says I need someone who is very patient to be my forever person. I absolutely hate crates and will fight to not go into one and then will be very afraid to come out. Once I trust you, all I wants to do is to sit in your lap and snuggle. At night, I will cuddle up to you to sleep. I start under the covers then during the night will get on top of covers so I can be closer to you. Love, Love, love belly rubs…. I will lay on my back and sleep while my belly is being rubbed, then I will thank you with lots of kisses. I am fine going outside as long as you hang with me; I don’t want you too far away at any given time. I enjoy my fenced back yard as I like to run and chase my K9 fosters siblings and squirrels so a playmate would be great. Since I am still nervous of new people and situations a home with young kids is not ideal for me. I’m doing Ok with car rides as long as they are not too long.I can climb a chain-link fence so I need a wood or a vinyl fence to keep me secure in the yard. If you have the time and the heart to help me be all that I can be please consider me for your fur-ever girl. Onyx is spayed, up to date on all vaccines, had a heart worm test, on heartworm preventative, had a fecal, and microchipped. Onyx’s adoption fee is $300.00. Out of state adopters are responsible for arranging transport, WE DO NOT SHIP DOGS. For events calendar and adoption application please go to our website at aaprescue.org. A young dog is a 10-15 year commitment. Many dogs are surrendered to us because their owners are no longer able to care for them due to their health. We try to place young dogs and puppies in active, busy families. We encourage seniors to look at age appropriate dogs
