My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! I’m Sugar….and I truly live up to my name. I'm a 3 year old Chihuahua/terrier mix that wants all the attention in the world. Just look at me and try not to fall in love with my markings! I was found wondering the streets with my other 2 sisters. Although I can be real skittish around new people at first, once I get to know you it’s on. I will follow you around and constantly look at you for approval or attention. I love to be in my back yard where I can run free and still be safe, and since I’m still working on my leash manners a fenced yard is a MUST. I’m not much of a barker but I will let it be known when you leave me behind. (ABSOLUTELY NO APARTMENTS) I am still working on my potty habits in the house, I will do my business outside if you keep me company. My foster dad says since he doesn't know my past I can't be around little kids. I love having k9 playmates and enjoy a good tumble with the cat too. I don't do good in a crate at all so I will need a home that won't try and put me in a crate and will help socialize me with new people.I can climb a chain-link fence so I need a wood or a vinyl fence to keep me secure in the yard. Sugar is spayed, up to date on all vaccines, had a heart worm test, on heartworm preventative, had a fecal, and microchipped. Sugar’s adoption fee is $300.00. Out of state adopters are responsible for arranging transport, WE DO NOT SHIP DOGS. For events calendar and adoption application please go to our website at aaprescue.org. A young dog is a 10-15 year commitment. Many dogs are surrendered to us because their owners are no longer able to care for them due to their health. We try to place young dogs and puppies in active, busy families. We encourage seniors to look at age appropriate dogs
