Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Switch!!!
Yes like the Nintendo game system. Switch and his brother Xbox are believed to be Flat coat retriever pups. They are almost a year old. Switch and his brother Xbox were amish dogs surrendered. One night, a Amish gentleman showed up at the Sanctuary gate requesting to surrender them. He was honest he was not breeding but his female dog was free roam and not fixed, he had other dogs. Either we took them or he did of them the only way he knows....... we will not share what he said.
Switch and Xbox both were extremely fearful feral. They lived in a barn stall their whole life (5 months). Zero human affection, attention, interaction and they were getting a bit reactive. Both boys have been with us since January and both now are doing fabulous. Basic training is coming along great, leash training is on point, and the best is they are not scared or fearful as they were upon arrival.
They are water dogs, they are playful, happy go lucky, very outgoing with a touch of shyness and stubbornness. And as they grow and experience life and new adventures they continue to improve.
They are a very active and smart breed. Although they are superstars with people they are still puppies and we feel older kids would be best. 7 and up
These boys are true to the breed. They love to work and train, are curious, and playful. They are extremely smart and with a little more training they will only continue to do better.
Training is an ongoing process that has to be worked on daily. New issues and opportunities show up daily that have to be addressed or rewarded. Continuing training is a must.
